There's a note at the beginning of today's listing that if the World Series requires a fifth game, it will air on NBC starting at 1:00 p.m., with a pre-game show at 12:30. The Minnesota Twins were eliminated on the final day of the season; had they won today's game would have been telecast by WTCN as well as NBC. In this case, I've chosen to show what TV Guide lists, rather than what actually aired. Since the game ran two hours and twenty minutes, you can probably figure out what was shown and what was preempted. Needless to say, the listings are from the Twin Cities.

Stan Freberg in Everybody's Talking—that would have been fun to see. And Ryan O'Neal! Kaye Stevens, who was frequently on TV, rounds out an interesting cast. Interesting also is this tidbit from the always-reliable Wikipedia that Everybody's Talking was the last American daytime program aired in black-and-white.

Tonight's prime-time movie is one of the greats, The Killers, based on the Ernest Hemingway short story, starring Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner, and Edmond O'Brian, We've talked before about the 1964 remake, which was originally intended to be the first made-for-TV movie before it was deemed too violent. That version starred Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, and (in his last role) Ronald Reagan. That was a pretty fair version, too. TV
